Nyami Dev Update #2: Dark Mode, Onboarding, and More

A look at what we have been building since the last update: dark mode, interactive onboarding, data export, smarter weekly review, and bilingual support.

Thanks for following along with Nyami. Last time we showed you the core check-in flows, weekly review, guiding questions, and context badges. Since then, we have been layering on the things that make the app feel complete. Here is what is new.

1. Dark mode

Nyami now has full Light, Dark, and System-default theme support. Every screen has been built with proper contrast so it looks great whether you are logging a late-night meal or checking your weekly review in bed. You can switch between modes in Profile > App Settings.

2. Interactive onboarding

New users no longer land on an empty screen. We built a hands-on onboarding that walks you through simulated versions of all three check-in types (About to Eat, Finished Meal, and Skipped Meal) followed by a demo Weekly Review. You get to experience the full app before creating an account. And if you ever want to revisit it, you can replay it from your profile settings.

3. Data export

Your data is yours. We added a dedicated Export Data screen where you can download your full meal history as CSV or PDF. Handy if you want to share it with a therapist, nutritionist, or just keep a personal backup.

4. Smarter weekly review

We improved the weekly review since we first showed it:

  • Meals within 30 minutes of each other are now grouped together, so your average gap numbers are actually accurate
  • Each chart has an info button explaining how the data works
  • A new Emotions Card surfaces emotional patterns across the week
  • The whole thing is noticeably snappier too

5. New context: reason to eat

We added "Reason to Eat" as a new context topic in the check-in flows. It helps you think about why you are reaching for food, not just what and when.

6. Bilingual support

Every string in the app is now translatable. We are launching with English and Hungarian, with more languages planned.

What is next

We are getting closer to something you can actually hold in your hands. If you want to be among the first to try Nyami, stay on the waitlist and we will reach out when early access is ready.
